
Michael Ferrante is the president of the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association, an industry trade association representing over 350 heating oil, biodiesel, propane and petroleum marketers and suppliers; home heating equipment manufacturers and distributors; and other companies that provide products and services to the association’s members. Along with running the day-to-day operations of the association, he is responsible for industry lobbying on the state and federal level; developing advertising and marketing campaigns for member companies; managing all funds and programs associated with the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) in Massachusetts; and interacting with the media, regulators, consumers and a variety of other groups and agencies that have an interest in home energy, renewable liquid fuels, petroleum, energy conservation, the environment, and consumer protection.
Michael holds an undergraduate degree in English from Salem State University and a Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University’s School of Public Communication. Following his studies at Boston University, he was employed as a television news writer and producer at WCVB-TV5, the ABC affiliate in Boston. He then worked a combined seven years as a media spokesman and public and government relations representative for two Fortune 500 companies: Wang Laboratories and Monsanto Chemical Company. ▪
